A WRC adjudicator awarded a postal operative applicant €8,500 after finding he was discriminated against on disability grounds. The decision was dated 23 January 2023.
The applicant was placed on a recruitment panel subject to medical clearance but was not offered the temporary job after a medical assessment found heavy manual handling could be unsafe. The adjudicator found there had been no adequate assessment of the role’s manual handling demands and how they related to the applicant’s capability.
