The Workplace Relations Commission found that Robert Arendt was not unfairly dismissed after he resigned from his job as an after sales manager at Ravens Lodge Trading Limited. The decision, dated 23 March 2023, rejected his complaint under the Unfair Dismissals Act 1977. Arendt said deteriorating working conditions, extra duties, missed breaks and a reduced bonus led him to resign. The company denied that conditions were intolerable and said he had not used its grievance procedure. The adjudication officer found that the company had taken some steps to address a colleague’s underperformance and that Arendt’s failure to raise a formal grievance significantly undermined his complaint.
