The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) awarded Daniela Krause €1,500 after finding that accommodation provider Michael McGrath McGrath Investments discriminated against her on housing-assistance grounds by delaying completion of a rent supplement form. The decision was dated 27 October 2022.

Krause said the delay in signing a social housing support form caused stress and financial hardship. McGrath said he was unsure whether the form applied to the accommodation, which had operated as a guest B&B before the pandemic. He said he eventually signed it on 4 August 2021.

The adjudicator found that McGrath delayed completing the form because he did not believe it applied to the premises, but that was not his decision to make. The WRC found discrimination because of the delay and awarded €1,500 for the stress and financial distress it caused.

The WRC did not find a discrimination case concerning the separate HAP form, saying the evidence about when and how it was submitted was unclear. It also found no harassment or victimisation on housing-assistance grounds.
