Bobby Fenton was awarded €2,000 after the Workplace Relations Commission found that Grasstec Limited unfairly dismissed him. The decision was dated 30 January 2024. Fenton worked as a livestock sales agent from January 2019 until his dismissal in June 2021. He said he was given no notice of the dismissal meeting, chance to be represented or proper investigation. Grasstec said he had traded livestock for his own account during work hours, competing with the company. The officer found that Grasstec disregarded fair procedures, including its own, and had prepared the dismissal letter before the meeting. The dismissal was unfair because of the unreasonable way it was carried out. The officer also found significant contribution by Fenton to his dismissal and directed Grasstec to pay €2,000 compensation.
