WRC recommends €3,000 and €500 plus two-hour call-out payment for healthcare worker

A WRC adjudication officer recommended that a healthcare provider pay a worker €3,000 over travel and subsistence information and €500 for delay in handling a grievance. The officer also recommended that the worker receive the two-hour call-out payment under the local agreement. The recommendations were dated 22 February 2023. The worker said he had not been told he could claim travel and subsistence for journeys over 45 km, and that colleagues received the call-out payment. The employer argued the travel claims were too old to verify and disputed the call-out entitlement. The officer accepted the worker’s travel calculation and found no basis for concerns about double claims. She found he had not been told about the travel protocol in good time, and that an agreement provided a two-hour call-out payment to staff at the base.
