Superior Group Irl was not liable for Noel Barron’s dismissal or redundancy claims

The Workplace Relations Commission found Noel Barron’s unfair dismissal and redundancy complaints against Superior Group Irl Limited not well founded. The decision, dated 11 April 2023, said Barron had never been an employee of the company and had no contract of employment with it. Barron said he had worked as a security guard for Orbit Security Limited at Letterkenny Institute of Technology. Superior said Orbit had dismissed him before Superior took over security work at the college and that Barron had never worked for Superior. The WRC concluded that the evidence did not establish an employment relationship between Barron and Superior, so it did not uphold either complaint.
