Aer Lingus complaints ruled outside WRC jurisdiction

The Workplace Relations Commission found it had no jurisdiction to hear Kevin O'Beirne's unfair dismissal and equality complaints against Aer Lingus. The decision was dated 10 August 2022. O'Beirne worked for Aer Lingus from 2000 until 2018, when his position was made redundant and he accepted voluntary severance. He said he accepted the package after being told it would expire and that he would otherwise be made redundant, and later learned colleagues had left voluntarily after him. The WRC found both complaints were brought outside the applicable time limits and that it had no jurisdiction to hear them; the merits were not decided.
