The Workplace Relations Commission awarded John Mckinley €1,920 for Slevin Brothers Limited’s failure to give him a written statement of employment terms. The decision, dated 25 February 2022, also awarded him €292.17 for unpaid accrued annual leave and €96 for an unpaid public holiday. A further employment-terms complaint was upheld without an additional award. The adjudicator rejected Mckinley’s constructive-dismissal complaint, finding he should have made further efforts to clarify his lay-off and seek the promised social welfare letter. His payment-of-wages, road-transport working-time, notice, redundancy, protection-of-employment and other employment-terms complaints were also not well founded; a duplicate public-holiday complaint failed.
