The Workplace Relations Commission ruled it had no jurisdiction to hear Frank Matthews’s unfair dismissal complaint against World 2000 Entertainment Limited, finding that it was not his employer. The decision was dated 19 February 2024; the merits were not decided. Matthews said he was not offered work when film production resumed in December 2019 and believed this was because of his membership of the Irish Film Workers’ Association. World 2000 disputed that it employed him and argued that the complaint was late. The adjudication officer found the complaint was within the time limit, but identified Metropolitan Films International Limited as his employer and concluded that a separate legal entity had been named. The officer therefore declined to substitute the employer as respondent.
