The Workplace Relations Commission found a worker’s complaint over a transfer and final written warning failed in a recommendation dated 5 April 2018. The worker, a general operative at a local authority, sought a return to his former department, saying the transfer was a lasting sanction with financial consequences. The local authority said the discipline followed an admitted verbal altercation with a foreman and complied with its agreed procedures. The adjudicator found the process followed the authority’s policies and procedures and was in line with best practice. The worker had not appealed the sanction when it was imposed.
