The Workplace Relations Commission awarded a Technician €10,000 after finding his constructive dismissal complaint well founded. The decision was dated 15 May 2017. The Technician worked for a Digital Company and said he left after repeated workplace safety concerns.

He reported being required to work at heights without a harness, including at a site 15 metres high. He also raised concerns about unpaid extra hours and sick leave after a workplace injury, and being instructed to drive an untaxed company van on a public road. The respondent did not attend the hearing, and the adjudication officer decided the case on the Technician’s uncontested evidence. The officer found that he had raised health and safety issues and had suffered a back injury at work. The WRC directed the company to pay €10,000 compensation within 42 days.
