The Labour Court upheld a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation that an unnamed cleaner employed by I.S.S. Limited at Beaumont Hospital should not retain the Theatre rate after moving to the X-Ray Department. The decision was signed on 20 August 1999, after an appeal by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The Court found the case had not been made for keeping the higher rate for duties in another area. The Theatre rate was £1.10 per hour higher than the rate at issue in the claim.
