In 1995, the Labour Court amended a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation and decided that a worker should receive enhanced severance of two weeks’ pay per year of service. The decision was signed on 11 May 1995. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union appealed on the worker’s behalf. She had left Campbell Catering Limited after a shift change that did not suit her family commitments and had received statutory redundancy entitlements. The union sought five weeks’ pay per year of service plus those entitlements.
