In 1995, the Labour Court rejected a worker’s appeal and upheld the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation that his claim for compensation for lost Saturday overtime fail. The decision was dated 24 February 1995. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the worker had been promised Saturday overtime in 1984 or 1985 and sought six months’ net loss. Kilkenny Textile Mills said he worked the overtime for about four months in 1985, that it was redistributed among workers and that overtime was not guaranteed. The Court cited the time that had passed since the overtime was worked.
