The Labour Court upheld a Rights Commissioner's recommendation rejecting the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union's claim for compensation for lost overtime earnings for two Iarnrod Eireann depot-persons at Ballina station. The decision was signed on 6 July 1994. The union appealed, arguing that changes to work practices had reduced overtime and cost the workers about £1,500 a year. Iarnrod Eireann said overtime earnings had been maintained and opportunities continued to exist. The Court found the recommendation correct and did not sustain the appeal.
