The Labour Court rejected the Technical Engineering And Electrical Union’s appeal and upheld a recommendation that Gypsum Industries pay a worker £2,750 compensation and provide training for possible rotational work at Knocknacran mine. The decision was signed on 24 March 1994. The dispute followed the closure of Drumgoosat mine and the worker’s transfer to a factory. The union sought to retain his chargehand rate and secure his inclusion on the Knocknacran roster. The company said it had accepted the recommendation and arranged training to support his application.
