In 1991, the Labour Court upheld Pennys Limited (Dun Laoghaire)’s appeal and set aside a Rights Commissioner's recommendation that workers receive £60 each, pro rata for part-time staff. The decision was signed on 13 September 1991. The dispute concerned disturbance payments for workers at the company's Dun Laoghaire outlet after renovation work. The Irish Distributive And Administrative Trade Union said workers faced noise and inconvenience and accepted the recommendation; the company argued that the work was routine and caused minimal disruption. The Court found the disturbance did not warrant compensation.
