The Labour Court rejected the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s appeal over Press-O-Matic’s counting of a worker’s authorised absences. The decision was dated 6 June 1991. The union said the worker understood that absences approved in writing would not count against his attendance record. Press-O-Matic said authorised absences were counted like sick days and that the worker was treated in line with company practice. The Court noted that the company counted all absences except planned holidays and recorded different types of absence under separate headings. It left the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation unchanged.
