The Labour Court rejected a worker’s appeal and upheld the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation that his redundancy by P.J. Walls (Dublin) Limited was fair. The decision was signed on 14 February 1991. The carpenter worked at the company’s R.T.E. site. He said it had promised to find him another job and had enough work to keep him employed. The company said the site contract had ended, it had no further work for him or the other carpenters, and it had not guaranteed alternative employment. The Court found the recommendation reasonable in the circumstances.
