The Labour Court upheld a recommendation that British Home Stores (Dublin) Limited pay no compensation to members of the Irish Administrative And Distributive Trade Union for disruption during renovations at its O’Connell Street store. The decision was signed on 10 July 1989. The union cited noise, dust, a broken lift, carpet adhesive, slippery floors and a lack of notice about asbestos. The company said staff had been informed about the work and safety measures, and that it took steps to reduce disruption. The Court found no grounds to change the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation.
