The Labour Court increased the additional redundancy payments for two workers at Kayfoam Woolfson Limited after an appeal by the Amalgamated Transp0RT And General Workers' Union. The decision was signed on 26 September 1988. The Court raised worker A's additional payment from £375 to £475 and worker B's from £250 to £350. The company had offered statutory redundancy sums plus additional payments, while the union sought higher settlements and objected to the workers' selection for lay-off. The company cited trading difficulties, the cost of developing fire-safe foam and lost customers.
