Labour Court disallows worker's appeal over voluntary redundancy

The Labour Court affirmed a Rights Commissioner's recommendation and disallowed a worker's appeal over exclusion from a voluntary redundancy programme at Doyles Collection Ltd T/A Westbury Hotel. The decision was dated 28 February 2013. The worker said he understood staff on long-term sick leave could apply; the employer said it and the union had agreed not to invite those employees to apply. The Court found the employer had acted in accordance with that agreement and had discretion over applications.
