The Labour Court allowed University College Dublin’s appeal and set aside a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation for compensation after a worker’s return from career break was delayed. The decision was signed on 1 June 2011. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the worker lost income and other benefits when UCD delayed her return. UCD argued that the agreed terms entitled her to the next available post at her grade. The Court found UCD had acted in accordance with the terms agreed for the career break.
