Labour Court rejects workers’ appeal over HSE relocation terms

The Labour Court rejected three workers’ appeal against a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation concerning relocation terms at HSE Mid-Leinster. The workers had moved from Baggot Street Community Hospital to the Civil Registration Office in Joyce House. The decision was signed on 15 November 2010. The Court said the workers’ redeployment had substantially improved their pay and conditions, while the relocation agreement offered comparatively modest one-off compensation to other staff. It rejected the appeal and upheld the recommendation against extending the agreement to the three workers, saying that would be unfair to other staff. It also said affected staff should receive written information about redeployment options and terms.
