Labour Court overturns €1,000 award to worker on Ballyfermot Resource Centre Project appeal

The Labour Court upheld Ballyfermot Resource Centre Project’s appeal and overturned a Rights Commissioner’s €1,000 recommendation to a worker over an additional year on a Community Employment Scheme. The decision was signed on 21 July 2010. The Court found the project could limit participation to three years and had no further obligation to extend the worker’s contract. It heard conflicting evidence about whether a transfer to another project had been offered and said the Centre should try to assist the worker, with FÁS, if he became able to resume employment.
