Labour Court rejects Meath County Council appeal over worker’s suspension

The Labour Court rejected Meath County Council’s appeal and upheld a recommendation to rescind a labourer’s suspension while retaining his final written warning. The decision was signed on 9 July 2010. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, received both sanctions after two instances of lateness. The Council argued its procedures allowed suspension after a final warning and said the sanction was warranted. The union argued the suspension came before a full investigation and that the procedures did not allow both sanctions at once.
