The Labour Court upheld a €500 recommendation to a worker who fell on stairs at work, disallowing Videur Limited T/A Eagle House L.P’s appeal. The decision was signed on 17 April 2008. The worker, represented by Mandate, was off work from December 2006 to May 2007. The union said boxes left near the stairs caused her fall and sought sick pay for her absence. The company said it did not pay sick leave and had paid about €500 towards medical bills. The Court said the Rights Commissioner had recommended a sum considered fair and reasonable, rather than applying the full sick-pay agreement, and affirmed the recommendation.
