The Labour Court upheld a recommendation that St Munchins Action Centre pay an unnamed worker three weeks’ pay per year of service in addition to statutory redundancy entitlements. The decision was dated 13 April 2006. The worker was made redundant after cuts to Job Initiative places. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought the enhanced terms, arguing the Government should fund the payment through FAS. The Centre said its grant-funded finances could not cover the cost and argued FAS should pay. The Court decided the worker should receive the recommended terms.
