Labour Court increases overtime recommendation for Tralee Town Council worker

The Labour Court varied a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation and increased the proposed compensation for an unnamed Tralee Town Council worker from 106 to 192 hours’ pay at the current hourly rate. The decision was signed on 14 December 2004 and settled the worker’s claim for lost Saturday overtime. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, said he took a lower-paid refuse collection job believing regular Saturday overtime would continue. The council said he had agreed to the wage scales and received allowances and housing, and that his shorter service in the role explained the original recommendation.
