Newtowngore has a school, parade and local-record story, with the planning note only one part of it. Newtowngore National School has permission for a new all-weather playing pitch with fencing and netting at Mullyaster, with the application received on 30 March 2026, decided on 7 May and granted on 9 June. The school material also gives the working-parent detail: admissions material, a 2026 information booklet, onsite afterschool care from 1.50pm to 2.50pm and the option for pupils to travel by school bus to Drumreilly Community Centre for later care through Drumreilly Community Afterschool and Breakfast Club. The school also carries recent pride in a Junior Entrepreneur award for the pupils' book For The Love of the GAA. Newtowngore St Patrick's Day Parade adds a Main Street gathering, with weekend entertainment starting on Sunday 15 March 2026 and the main parade on Tuesday 17 March at 4.30pm. Newtowngore & Drumeela History keeps the older local line through headstone records, Drumeela RC cemetery records and collected documents. Richardson's Craft Butchers and XL, Drumreilly Church of Ireland, Corby Steel, the school pitch, afterschool bus care, Junior Entrepreneur pride, Main Street parade and local records make the village note read as school, shop, church, children, old names and a March gathering.
