Zhen Dong Zhao pleaded guilty to manslaughter at the Central Criminal Court, as reported on 14 November 2016. The killing occurred outside his internet cafe at Wellington Quay, Dublin city centre, on 20 May 2011. The State accepted his plea after Zhao denied murder but admitted manslaughter in the death of Noel Fegan. Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy granted continuing bail after being told Zhao had complied with his conditions. A sentencing hearing was scheduled for 5 December. Zhao had previously been convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment in 2012, but that conviction was later quashed and a retrial ordered.
