A woman told the Central Criminal Court that she was “blind drunk” on the night she alleged she was raped by two men. The alleged offences occurred in a town in County Donegal in February 2015, when she was a student at a college in the county.
The two men pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape. The proceedings were reported on 15 October 2019.
The woman said she and a friend had spent the night at a student night in a pub and nightclub. She said they met two men in a parked car while walking home and accepted a lift, arriving at an apartment she did not know.
Footage taken by her friend showed the woman falling on a bathroom floor before two men held her up. The complainant said it showed both men carrying her to a bedroom. She recalled lying on a bed with someone heavy on her and something inside her vagina, but said she did not know whether it was a dream or was happening.
Cross-examined about evidence that she was heard moaning and saying “harder”, she said she may have been dreaming and had a history of talking and moaning in her sleep. The defence position was that any sexual activity was consensual.
The trial was continuing before Justice Alex Owens and a jury.
