Trial date for Antoin Duffy expected to be set next month

By Eimear Byrne

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Antoin Duffy, charged with the 2006 murder of Denis Donaldson, appeared by video link at the Special Criminal Court on October 12. His barrister confirmed he had received the book of evidence. Judge Caroline Biggs gave Duffy an alibi warning, directing that any alibi details be supplied within 14 days if he relies on one.

The case was adjourned until November 9, when a trial date is expected to be set. Duffy faces charges including murder, firearms offences and the attempted murder of Liam Copeland McGinley; these remain charges, not findings of guilt.
