This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Tony Ward received an 18-month sentence, suspended in full on strict conditions, for having drugs for sale or supply at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Ward pleaded guilty to the charge. The offence occurred on May 10, 2023, and the proceedings were reported on February 4, 2025.

The report said Ward approached Michael Little while driving a Dublin City Council lorry and handed over a package containing €6,000 worth of cannabis.

Ward said his involvement followed his son’s drug debt, and Garda Tara Higgins accepted he acted as a drug mule.

Judge Martin Nolan accepted Ward was pressurised by his son’s drug habit and considered him unlikely to re-offend.
