Tony Walsh was granted more time to appeal his indecent assault conviction in the Court of Appeal, reported on 4 March 2016.
Walsh had been sentenced at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to two years for indecently assaulting a young girl, with the final year suspended.
The offence occurred at St Luke’s, Kilbarron Park, Kilmore, Dublin, between 17 April 1973 and 9 September 1976, on an unknown date.
During case management, Mr Justice George Birmingham granted the extension after the court was told Walsh was one day out of time. The State did not object, and Walsh was not in court for the procedural matter.
He is serving a 16-year sentence imposed in 2010 for the rape and abuse of three schoolboys.
