Thomas Lorigan was sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering his uncle, John O’Neill, at the Central Criminal Court on 19 February 2024.

A jury found Lorigan guilty earlier that month of murdering O’Neill at his home on St Brendan’s Road in Lisdoonvarna, Co Clare, in January 2022.

The judge referred to the brutality of the offence and said the absence of remorse aggravated its nature and the shock felt by the family and wider community.
