Anthony Leddy received a fully suspended two-year sentence at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. The proceedings were reported on 6 October 2021.
Leddy pleaded guilty to failing to remain at the scene, careless driving and driving without insurance at Cherry Orchard Court, Ballyfermot, Dublin, on 8 June 2018. He also pleaded guilty to a separate charge of careless driving at his home address on the same date.
The motorbike he was driving collided with a car while his friend, Cian Doherty, was a passenger. Doherty suffered a serious head injury, required part of his skull to be removed and was left with lifelong injuries, the report said.
Judge Melanie Greally suspended the full sentence on conditions including keeping the peace and being of good behaviour for two years. The report said Leddy had no previous convictions.
