Joint Stock Company State Transport Leasing Company had its appeal application refused by the Supreme Court. The proceedings were reported on 25 October 2024. The case concerns pledge agreements purporting to grant the company charges over 37 aircraft, 36 of them in Russia, collectively valued at more than €1.85 billion.
The Supreme Court said the Court of Appeal had applied established principles when it found the company’s failure to appear in the High Court was a deliberate tactical decision and its attempt to appeal was an abuse of process. The court concluded that the interests of justice did not require an appeal.
