Stephen Mulcahy loses bid to stop poster removal

By Fionn Kelly

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Stephen Mulcahy lost his High Court bid to stop Dublin City Council removing Reinstate 48 campaign posters, reported on 19 February 2016. The judge said the posters fell foul of electoral laws because they did not refer to the general election, candidates or constituencies.

Mr Justice Peter Kelly refused an injunction pending the full action, while saying the group’s objective was legitimate. The initiative may erect posters if they are relevant to the election and comply with electoral law. A date for the full hearing was to be fixed later.
