This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Stephen Carberry pleaded guilty in the Special Criminal Court to an offence involving an act intended to impede the apprehension or prosecution of a person believed to be guilty of the murder of Keane Mulready-Woods. The proceedings were reported on 19 January 2026. Carberry admitted collecting two sports bags containing the teenager’s remains and dumping one in Dublin. His defence said there was no evidence he had “any hand, act or part” in the murder, and described Robbie Lawlor as a dangerous individual who was not someone Carberry could easily refuse. Carberry will be sentenced in March.

Elizabeth Mulready told the court about the lifelong trauma caused by her son’s killing and the treatment of his remains. Ms Justice Karen O'Connor thanked her for her dignity and courage.
