Slawomir Gierlowski denied charges involving three women at his trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. The proceedings were reported on 7 March 2018.

He denied falsely imprisoning and assaulting a woman on 16 May 2016, and having a hunting knife with intent to intimidate on the same occasion. He also denied the false imprisonment, sexual assault and assault of a second woman on 3 September 2015 and a third woman on 11 September 2011.

The alleged incidents were around Clondalkin, Co Dublin. The report said the woman involved in the May 2016 incident told the court she thought her attacker was going to slit her throat and grabbed the blade.

Garda Sgt Katherina Joyce told the jury she became aware on 20 May 2016 of a VW Crafter van believed to be connected to that incident. The jury heard that Mr Gierlowski was its registered owner.

Garda Ronan O’Malley said he seized a blue-green jacket during a search of Mr Gierlowski’s home on 1 June 2016. He agreed another man lived there and said he had not searched that man’s downstairs room. Det Garda Brian O’Shaughnessy said he searched the room but seized nothing of evidential value and made no note of the search.

Garda O’Shaughnessy said he seized the van outside the house. Garda David Harte said he later seized duct tape and cable ties. The jury heard the van also contained a shelving unit and work equipment. The trial continued.
