Sharif Kelly and Edward McGrath were found guilty of murdering Peter Butterly at the Special Criminal Court, reported on 9 March 2017. Mr Butterly was shot outside The Huntsman Inn in Gormanston, Co Meath, on 6 March 2013. The court found the killing was an ambush and that both men had performed assigned roles. Kelly’s account that his car had conked out was rejected, after tests detected no faults. Both men were remanded in custody until 7 April for sentencing.
