The start of evidence in former Anglo Irish Bank chairman Seán FitzPatrick’s trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court was delayed again and was not expected to begin until late the following week. The proceedings were reported on 15 May 2015.
Judge Mary Ellen Ring said legal argument in the absence of the jury would continue for a number of days. Jurors had been told the previous week that an illness was causing difficulty in the trial, which had been repeatedly delayed over three weeks.
Jurors had initially been asked to return on 13 May 2015, but were subsequently notified that evidence would not begin before the following Monday. Judge Ring said they would be notified again by the Courts Service and told not to return until the following Thursday. She said they would be told to “keep their phones on”.
