At a sentencing hearing on Monday, counsel for two of the five men convicted of colluding over school bus tender prices told the Central Criminal Court they had suffered cardiac complications. The court heard that Noel Browne had significant heart problems and had been allowed to remain at home for part of the trial; Larry Hickey’s counsel also said his client had cardiac complications.

Counsel for Raymond Heney said he accepted the jury’s verdict and that he had crossed the line. Andrew Walsh’s counsel said Walsh wished to apologise for engaging in the offences. Judge David Keane adjourned the case to July 6 to decide on sentencing.
