Samuel Joseph Tucker extradition ordered over DUI manslaughter

By Rory Hanlon

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Samuel Joseph Tucker had his extradition ordered by the High Court on 21 January 2019 over a Florida DUI manslaughter charge. The charge arose from a 2017 crash that killed passenger Alyssa Kay Vice in Highlands County, Florida. Mr Tucker also faced two Florida drink-driving charges involving property damage. Mr Justice McDermott found the manslaughter charge extraditable and held that the extradition request was properly made and was not prohibited by Irish law. The application was granted, allowing his extradition to the United States to face trial.
