This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Samuel Devlin’s judgment on an explosives possession charge was deferred at the Special Criminal Court after closing speeches on 18 February 2016.

Devlin had pleaded not guilty to unlawfully possessing PETN at Finnstown House Hotel in Lucan, County Dublin, on 11 May 2014. The three-judge, non-jury court remanded him in custody until 1 March 2016, when judgment was due to be delivered.

The prosecution argued that PETN was found inside detonating cord in a laptop case in the hotel room, while the defence said the evidence did not establish Devlin’s knowledge or control of the substance.
