Samuel Devlin was remanded in custody on explosives possession and IRA membership charges by the Special Criminal Court on 12 May 2015. He was charged with unlawfully possessing PETN at Finnstown House Hotel, Lucan, on 11 May 2014, and with membership of an unlawful organisation.
The court continued his detention until February, when his trial was due to take place. A Garda detective said the prosecution would allege that Devlin rented the apartment for an IRA operation and that 26 metres of detonating cord containing PETN were found there.
