Samuel Devlin was remanded in custody at the Special Criminal Court on 18 February 2016 after closing speeches in his trial for unlawful possession of PETN. The court will deliver judgment on 1 March.

The prosecution alleged that PETN was found inside detonating cord in a laptop case at Finnstown House Hotel, Lucan, where Devlin was staying. Devlin pleaded not guilty and his defence argued that the prosecution had not proved knowledge or control of the substance.
