Richard Satchwell is appealing his conviction for murdering his wife, Tina, and the case is not expected to be heard before late 2026 or early 2027, according to a report published on August 25, 2025.

Satchwell was sentenced to life in prison on June 4, 2025, after a jury found him guilty. His legal team lodged a notice of appeal on the day of sentencing and formalised it on August 18. The appeal report said six grounds were cited, including material he maintains should not have been put before the trial jury.

The Irish Examiner reported that no appeal grounds had yet been lodged with the Courts Service as of August 25, and that the timing of a hearing would depend on how quickly both sides prepared their paperwork. It said the legal team could apply to have the appeal prioritised.
