An Bord Pleanála’s permission for Ravala Ltd’s 450-home development was quashed by the High Court in a judgment on 19 June 2020. The proposed site was at Marsh Road, east of Drogheda Town Centre.

The board had conceded that it erred by screening out potential significant effects on the Boyne Estuary Special Area of Conservation. Mr Justice Denis McDonald also ruled that Ravala was not entitled to continue defending the environmental group’s challenge, meaning any development would require a fresh planning application.
